This antique silver is truly dinner size,is very showy on the table, distinguished by its fluted bowls reflecting light. Please note the beading on the shanks,a rare detail on current silver patterns. It has no monograms, no removals. This pattern was issued by Towle Silversmiths c. 1895. This is a rare English game table, walnut, c. 1727, the beginning of the reign of King George in Great Britain. It is all original, with a somewhat straight Dutch foot, square tray corners for the candles and four pockets for the chips. There are two original brass pulls on the drawer which has a slight crack in the bottom. Original finish. 29 3/4" across front at widest point, 14 1/4" deep, and 28 1/4" high. Evidence strongly suggests that the originator of the die-stamped antique flatware pattern Medallion was the great nineteenth century manufacturer John R. Wendt. On May 13, 1862 United States design patent 1580 was issued in his name. Quotes from the patent support the theory that his was the first die-cut medallion. The dies of this sterling silver Tiffany pattern have been destroyed due to their poor condition, so there will be no more Vine pattern issued by Tiffany. It is a more casual pattern with the designs incorporating various types of realistic plant life which meander over the entire handle front, extending to the reverse. This piece is grape design.
