Monogram "A" of the period. Krider served in the army in the Civil War, and at its end in 1865 he returned to the silver business Krider and Biddle located in Philadelphia,taking it over five years

Medallion silver, shovel shaped berry spoon, with ornate shaded engraving covering most of the vermeil bowl. The reverse of the bowl is also vermeil. The maker, Wendt, famous for his Medallion silver, worked in Boston and New York. Marked 925 Ball, Black & Co., who was the retailer. These marks, without the word sterling, indicate the piece was made prior 1865. Length 8 1/2"
