This piece of Medallion silver has a medallion with the head of Diana, particularly Grecian in its appearance. Medallion silver dates circa 1863. The makers are Wood & Hughes, the famous New York City silversmiths, noted for the excellence of their work. Vermeil bowl. The piercing is in the form of tiny stars. Length 7 5/8" No monogram. Please note- her face is dirty in the picture but not so on the sifter.

Dazzling bright-cut engraved 13 PIECE ICE CREAM SET marked with Peter
Krider's 1865- 1875 mark,retailed by Bailey & Co., marked sterling. Peter Krider was one of Philadelphia's great silversmiths; Bailey a well known retailer in Philadelphia. Six ice teaspoons, also wonderful to use when serving a parfait for dessert. Many patterns have ice teaspoons, but to find them in Lily by Watson means I go to the head of the class. A 1902 pattern. There is a very small Old English "M" monogram. The hallmark is the Watson
one, not the Watson ,Newell & Co. one. Picture looks like vermeil finish on the bowls, but that look was caused by the lighting.

Rare find for the collector! Rare for two reasons. These Gorham Medallion silver knives were manufactured using two dies ( double die-cut) a method that considerably increased the costs as it demanded production of twice as many dies. According to Albert Soeffing's book "Silver Medallion Flatware" Gorham Medallion silver pattern is usually seen in a single-die form.
