A very attractive sterling silver piece on the table. Exceptional piercing with an interesting rim. Notice the beading on each side of the shank. That is not seen on current silver. Nice for serving small pancakes, French toast, and other foods as well as the tomato.
The piercing on this sterling silver piece tells you it is an old vintage server. It is also marked copyrighted on the reverse. In order to preserve the copyright for the first 16 years it was necessary to use the inscription "copyrighted" The copyright expired after 16 years so there was no longer reason to continue it. From famous Salem, Massachusetts, a fish slice with a whole fish engraved, with minutely detailed scales and fin. Perfection! Ebenezer Lakeman was a silversmith in Salem during the period 1799-1857. Length 12" with a blade that is 3" wide. Unique piece!
Date mark T indicates 1891-1902 period. Length 7 1/2" No monogram, no removal. The top blade has wonderful piercing with detailed acanthus leaves scattered in it,Tiffany sterling typical of the Victorian period.
