The Silver Drawer offers coin silver flatware made by various silversmiths about 1865, including John Wendt, Gorham, Hotchkiss and Schreuder and the seldom seen California Schultz and Fischer This gravy ladle was made by the famous John Wendt whose pieces are usually seen with Ball, Black & Co.( New York City) stamped on the reverse as retailer. A kidney shaped serving spoon.Date mark M indicating 1869- 1907 Length 9 3/8" Due to age the piece has acquired a couple very shallow marks, not really dents, and when the spoon is on the table they only look like reflections on the silver. They could be removed by buffing, but the spoon has such a nice patina that it is destructive to do that. However, my standards force me to declare them.
