| This spoon has an unusually deep bowl, much deeper than that seen on most kidney shaped spoons. Length 9 1/2". Olympian is a multi-motif pattern with seventeen different handle decoration designs depicting susbject and stories from classiscal mythology. Orpheus is charming the wild animals with the sweetness of his music. A goddess is on the reverse of the bowl. There are incuse marks on the reverse ( indented below the surface)marks stamped after the piece was finished; Tiffany & Co.,Sterling, PAT 1878 If marks are are raised that indicates only when the die was made, not when the piec e was actually made. Thus we know that this piece really dates 1878. There is a triple script monogram on the reverse. A very heavy piece. | ||
