| The embossed design on the blade tells you that this server is the earlier design for this style blade. Length 12" This Tiffany pattern is a multi-motif one with seventeen different handle decoration designs depicting stories from classical mythology. On this handle is the story of Venus Born of the Sea. Venus is drawn in her shell by Dolphins driven by cupid who bears the laurel branch. On the back are the emblems of love- the myrtle, quiver, doves, torches and the burning heart. A mask of a mythological god is at the junction of the shank and the blade. There is an incised mark- T Tiffany & CO sterling Pat 1878 The T date lettter tells you that the piece was made during the tenure of Charles L. Tiffany ( 1891-1902). | ||
